John Derian

John Derian Company Inc. was founded in 1989 and today has its studio in New York City, where it has a small team of artisans who participate in the production of its creations. Its designs are sold in exclusive home goods stores, in interior design catalogs, and in gift shops around the world. The full range of John’s work, including his ephemeral collaborations, ceramics, and furniture, is available in his own retail stores in the East Village of Manhattan (New York), where a constantly changing variety of all kinds of his own objects can be enjoyed. The store, the work, and the homes of John Derian have appeared in the leading publications regarding trends and decoration: in Vogue, The New York Times, The World of Interiors, Elle Décor, Vanity Fair, Bon Appétit, New York Magazine, GQ, Details, W, Air France Madame, German AD, and many more.

The art of decoupage and other decorative objects

John's early obsession with printed materials eventually led him to decoupage, an art that basically consists of decorating by gluing cutouts of paper in different colors onto the object or surface. John Derian is famous worldwide for his distinctive decoupage style of mixing classic images and motifs. With private access to his extensive archive of vintage decoupage prints, a new and exquisite collection of wallpapers arrives that are wonderfully evocative of memory and feelings, mostly using botanical, floral, and vintage patterns.

In addition to wallpaper, John Derian creates glass plates, trays, bowls, and other decorative home items featuring images from his vast and ever-expanding collection of engravings from the 18th and 19th centuries. His pieces are highly sought after and collected worldwide. In 2009, John began designing a range of postcards, gift tags, handbags, and other small products to complement the decoupage line using his most iconic images.
