Eijffinger
In 1875, Anna Eijffinger and her husband Theo opened a wallpaper store opposite the Noordeinde Royal Palace in The Hague. It was a time of growing interest in interior decoration, especially among wealthy people. Anna had a strong business instinct and worked behind the scenes running the company. At that time, it was extremely unusual to find a woman running a business. This sign of women's liberation formed the basis of the eccentric and innovative vision that characterized the Eijffinger brand from the beginning.
Eijffinger started selling decorative embroideries and wallpaper, but the demand for wallpaper turned out to be much greater, as it was a popular way to brighten up walls. The use of coal heating made it necessary to replace the wallpaper on the walls annually. In less than a year since the company's founding, the Eijffingers dedicated themselves exclusively to wallapaper.
In the following years, Eijffinger transitioned from a retail craft trader to a wholesale business. For the first hundred years, the business focused almost exclusively on wall decoration, and when the economy flourished, the attention was mainly on the luxury segment of the market. For the last forty years, curtains have also become part of the collection.
Drive for innovation in wallpapers
The goal of the Eijffinger company for over 145 years has always been to create more beautiful spaces in their clients' homes. Throughout its history, curiosity, creativity, and a drive for innovation have remained unchanged, always maintaining interest in the latest trends in decoration, the latest innovations in colors, designs, and materials. Their finishes, always of high quality, are Non-Woven or vinyl depending on the wallpaper model. Choose the perfect wallapaper for each of the rooms in your house!
